We are a couple from San Francisco. Both of us call this city home, though it is thousands of miles away from our respective hometowns.

Shirish & Olya

Shirish is originally from India, which he left after college to work as a software engineer in Cyprus and later moved to the US, which has been his home for the last 15+ years.

Olya was born in Siberia and spent most of her childhood in Eastern Germany. After college she moved to China and eventually to Bay Area 9 years ago.

As a couple, we did a few international travels to explore the beautiful scenery this planet has to offer, the most memorable being road trips through New Zealand and Argentinian Patagonia (those stories are yet to be published). However, we have not traveled extensively around the US. We are pretty spoiled by Northern California, which has so many amazing spots to explore – Tahoe, Yosemite, Mendocino, Monterey, Point Reyes to name a few.

This year of 2019 we decided to explore this country we call home and set out on a three month road trip across 19 national parks throughout 8 states and Canada. We got two of our companions on the trip a – 31 ft Bounder motorhome and dingy 4×4 Chevy Tracker.

The whole trip was a bit of a spontaneous decision, so we had only three super busy weeks to find our motorhome & tow vehicle, renovate our Bounder, plan the itinerary and book the rv parks! All while watching hours of rv how-to videos for newbies and stocking up on rv essentials on amazon.

In the end, we learned a lot during the trip planning process, figured out what works best for us (tow or no tow? motorcycle vs car dingy? rent vs buy rv? Etc) and got on the road on July 16 2019.

Follow our journey on Instagram @outdoor.some and here on the blog, where we are going to talk about some of the tips & tricks that we as RV newbies found helpful, share our top attractions for each of the national Parks and, of course, post photos, videos, drone footage and VR/3D (super excited about this last one).
