Baguio itinerary, Wright Park

  Duration: 2 hrs

Baguio City has been known for being the Summer Capital in the Philippines—mainly because the climate here is cold all year round, and people escaping the summer heat from the lowlands come to this mountainous city. And, if Vigan is very Spanish, Baguio is very American. Most tourist attractions are named after the people during the American Occupation who transformed the mountains into a wonderland—some of which are Wright Park, Burnham Park, and Camp John Hay.

The longstanding Laperal House is believed to be a haunted house, that is why is it usually featured on popular TV shows.  Constructed in the 1930’s by Roberto Laperal, it is built of narra and yakal wood and exhibits a Victorian architectural flair.   It used to be a vacation house of the Laperal family until it was occupied by the Japanese soldiers during the World War II and used as a barracks. It is alleged that the warriors tortured many spies and raped many women here, leading to the rumors of the ghost sightings, who are purportedly the victims.

Before COVID-19, trips to Baguio were simple. We could wake up one morning and decide it was time for a refreshing break. We could call up our friends and ask if they would be up for a spontaneous day trip to the City of Pines.

Day 5
Baguio itinerary, Lagoon

  Duration: 6 hrs

The La-aw Lagoon is a small inlet located inside the island. It is partially blocked by huge rocks that we passed by. The water is greenish since there’s a lot of seaweed under the water. It is quite scary actually. But regardless of that fact, it was a beautiful paradise.
