Vomero is a hilltop district of downtown Naples, Italy, with an area of approximately two square kilometers and a population of 48,000. With its prominent hilltop location, Vomero is noted for the medieval fortress, Castel Sant'Elmo; its three funiculars connecting to adjacent historic districts — and its vantage, overlooking greater Naples, Mount Vesuvius, the Bay of Naples and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The quarter borders Arenella, Soccavo, Fuorigrotta, Chiaia, Montecalvario and Avvocata. Streets are named after noted Neopolitan painters, sculptors, composers and architects — prominent at the time of the quarter's initial development. Wikipedia
