Badlands National Park is an American national park located in southwestern South Dakota. The park protects 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes and pinnacles, along with the largest undisturbed mixed grass prairie in the United States. The National Park Service manages the park, with the South Unit being co-managed with the Oglala Lakota tribe. The Badlands Wilderness protects 64,144 acres of the park as a designated wilderness area, and is one site where the black-footed ferret, one of the most endangered mammals in the world, was reintroduced to the wild. Badlands National Park by Bicycle - Private
Formed by several hundred thousand years of erosion, the Badlands formations expose the layers of millions of years of the regions history. It is a landscape that makes you feel as though you’ve landed on Mars. On this day trip, we pedal the nice, moderate Badlands Loop Road for just under 30 miles through the heart of the pinnacles and lower shale formations to the other end of the northern segment of Badlands National Park, where we will enjoy a picnic lunch. There are also longer options available if desired. Enjoy close up views of wildlife and take in the breathtaking views of Badlands National Park. Enjoying this area by bicycle is a once in a lifetime opportunity! This tour is customizable. Contact us for more information.
Badlands Sunset and Night Sky Adventure
Half the Park is After Dark! Most visitors only see the park by day, but we'll be exploring it before, during and after sunset. You'll have private transportation, a guide, and an incredible setting in Badlands National Park. Once we arrive the park we'll take you to the best places for seeing animals. Big Horn Sheep, Bison, Deer and Prairie Dogs are not uncommon to be seen. Getting to different viewpoints throughout the park, or just unpacking out folding chairs and watching the sun go down is what we consider the perfect evening. Once the daylight show begins, we turn the page and head through the park to a Night Sky Program put on by the park rangers themselves. Telescopes come out as we learn about our place in the universe. Overhead satellites fly by and shooting stars provide special wishes. (But only if you close your eyes) Relax and enjoy when mother nature shows off what most don't have a chance to see in one of the worlds most spectacular National Parks.
